If you know your cars, chances are, you’d be able to identify a “Shelby Mustang” in the streets. The Shelby has been synonymous with Mustang high breed performance and is often a choice with car collectors.

Carroll Shelby joined Ford Motors in 1965 and though corroborated efforts, the first Mustang race machine created by Shelby appeared in 1965. It was soon racing the circuits and won its first win at the SCCA race in February 1965. From then, Shelby’s name became immortalized with the entry of the Shelby Mustang racers in the racing world. The Shelby GT350R became Shelby’s pet vehicle in his racing explorations.

The next race machine that appeared was the Shelby GT500 which featured a sleek design that was totally capable of outracing its peers and contemporaries. Next came the 1968 GT500-KR, so named because the letters KR stood for “King of the “Road “which was no lame moniker for this wonderful vehicle.

Carroll Shelby quit his partnership with Ford and ventured forth marking a supposedly good partnership and leaving thousands of racing and car aficionados in wonderment of the sad turn of events with the Shelby-Ford partnership. Shelby, however, made a comeback and in 2006, a special edition Shelby masterpiece cam in the market-the Shelby GTH. He soon released two more vehicles (the GT500KR and the GT500) that made waves in the racing world. Lots of fans car proved that this was indeed a fantastic piece of equipment that bore the Shelby mark.

Carroll Shelby soon announced in 2010 that he will be using his old company name again and thus, “Shelby Americans” was back in business. He emphasized this point when he revealed the new GT500 model that would soon hit the markets and prove once for all that the Shelby craftsmanship is top of the line in terms of speed, design, and performance. The 2010 release of the new Shelby model emphasized once m ore that the Mustang is a War machine to reckon with in the racing circuits. This short history of the long line of Shelby Mustang cars shows the survival of a fine line of machines that show what speed and performance is. Clearly, not one of its contemporaries can deny the fact that with the Shelby Mustang, you sure can get your money’s worth. The acquisition of such a formidable racing car is surely an edge in the race tracks.
