Slower than Mustang and bulkier than Camaro, yet Dodge Challenger is still an American muscle. That alone gives all reasons to love the car.

Back in 1970, with its counter Plymouth Barracuda, Challenger was everything pony car could offer in finest artistic: extended hood, belligerent-looking scoops, dull-nosed grill, and petite rear deck. Abundant accessories included color choices, trims and fobs, and optional nine engines with 426hp Hemi being the most favorite. During the first sales year, Challenger hit a staggering 84,032 units. The next sales, however, was a one sad story of 29,883, all due to losing interest and regulating emission. With grimmer succeeding years and the 1978 – 1982 Japanese arrival, Challenger only buried the already dead body.

The 2008 revival marks the streets with matched combination of power, style, and dexterity. A massive coupe with five seats, Challenger has three trims to offer: the less appreciated SE; pure power R/T; and speed-yearning SRT8.

SE

Being the most performance mediocre, SE is equipped with 3.5L V6 engine producing 250hp and 250lbs torque, 5 speed auto transmissions, 8-way power driver, rear seat in 60/40 split folding, 4 blasting speakers, MPG 17/25, and the fairly price of $23,000.

R/T

With only $31,000, the racing performer R/T is the best buy with 5.7L V8 emitting 376hp and 400lbs of torque, optional 6 speed manual or standard 5 speed auto gear box, sportive steering and suspensions, MPG 16/25, auto headlamps, fog-lights, and leathered interior.

SRT8

The $41,000 agile performer SRT8 has 6.1L V8 bursting 425hp and 420lbs of torque, gear box system like the R/T, leathered and heated interior, sound system, Bluetooth, metrical acceleration, G-force reading, dual stripes, scoops, sportive suspension, MPG 13/19, Brembo braking, xenon light, and heat-regulated side mirrors.

To go crazier just add multimedia, GPS, 13 speakers, performance tires, and Mopar accessories. Challenger gets NHTSA’s five stars for front-side crash, and four for rollover protection, and a 6/10 reliability from US News and World Reports.
